I n t e r n a t i o n a l L e g i s l a t i o n
The National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2016-2020 aims to periodically assess the implementation by
Romania of specific legislation to implement the Framework Decision on combating corruption in
private sector and the standards of the UN Convention against Corruption
The main legal acts ratified or in the process of ratification are:
- Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions
(entered into force on Feb. 15, 1999)
- United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), signed by Romania and ratified by Law
365/2004
- Civil Law Convention on Corruption (adopted in 1999), ratified by Romania through Law 147/2002
- Criminal Law Convention on Corruption (adopted in 1999), ratified by Romania through Law 27/2002
- Framework Decision 2003/568 on combating corruption in the private sector
- The CVM (Cooperation and Verification Mechanism) report, as far as Romania is concerned.
Stresses the need to continue the fight against corruption and to develop sustainable policies at EU level
state-owned companies
- Directive 95/2014 amending the provisions of Directive No 34/2013 on financial statements, financial statements
consolidated financial statements and related reports of certain types of undertakings. The Directive introduces
mandatory reporting of non-financial information
